Asking $1600 for one of these reminds me of Hernan Drums asking $2000 for their first few creations.

I have respect for all people who attempt to make these creations. It's a very challenging task from what I hear. My probably is when people charge that much for an instrument with a sound quality that is not too good. If someone were to post this video just to show their progress, I would be happy for them and encourage further progress. But it just dosent seem right to sell that for $1600. Pantheon halos are $200 more and theres a huuuuuuuge quality difference. Of course pantheon could probably sell them all for 3 times more but they don't. It's integrity.
No offense to the makers of this at all. Just criticism

Just got this, though it was funny..
I guess I can't have an opinion anymore?
Wonder if everyone was as lucky as I?

Message: You obviously dont know who I am so let me wake you up a little.Im a decorated wrestler..professional musician who has played drums for 30 years.I usually wouldnt waste my time on immature folks.I refuse to stoop to your level by bashing you in front of a bunch of people.Instead Ill be a real man and talk directly to you.Everyone who saw your post immediately saw fear, jealosy, and somehow threatened. For you to bash an american handmade handpan that sounds great..and here you are making an instument that immitates the sound of one.It looks like you traced a bunch of wooden ice cream spoons on a propane tank and painted it.Being that you and I are in the same business I thought you were a smart mature person.I am an exclusive dealer of Milltone drums and they absolutely smoke a zen on sound and its magnetically tuned.Maybe I should send you one so you will know what a real tounge drum should sound like.So you can continue to spit at people on the forum..it makes you lo
ok really pitifull..To get respect you should give some.I searched playable art and nothing showed up..I will remove it so you wont cry anymore. And as for the price of the drum it is neg. and you are really overpriced seeing as you could have a milltone for half the price you ask..Better sound and cheaper.Learn respect.quit spitting on people for their art or prepare to be spit upon.

A few thoughts my friend.
1- Don't bother sending me any more e-mail, it's to easy to block knowing your IP..
2- Learn to spell.
3- Why do I care that you are a "decorated wrestler"?
4- I don't think anyone is seeing fear, jealousy or threatened.
5- I don't care where it's made! At this stage, It still sounds like crap and you should not be selling it.
6- The Zen Tambour does NOT imitate the sound of a handpan, I make this very clear! It has it's own sound.
7- I like ice cream!
8- "exclusive dealer of Milltone drums" YEEE HAW!!!!! Pass the grits!
9- As for the sound and look, well lets just look at the facts... I have no need for dealers or e-bay sales... My backlog is over a 1.5 years right now...
10- "cheaper" you picked the correct word. "cheap" is a word to describe quality or the lack of...

Great way to start off new guy.. I am sure you will make lots of friends this way..
Did you take lessons form the TZ guys?

Spike...

You should at least expect this kind of mail or response after a harsh comment I guess. I do not agree with what the guy said but he sent you a private mail and you should keep it like that. I don't see the need to expose your argument on the forum. You can surely have an opinion but without being rude and displaced.

But I agree with you, the sound quality does not worth the 1'600$. However, I think it's a great start for a pan but there is a lot of space for improvement. I mean, A LOT, for sure. He should'nt sell it with this sound quality.

So we should all get a e-mail from this guy for posting our thoughts?

I did not send him an e-mail, I posted my comment here in public. Just like everyone else did, right?
I have no problem with a reply in public as I have nothing to hide.

I am looking at nothing but facts here.

Fact - Sounds like shit and we all agree with that.
Fact - Should not be selling it at this point and we all agree with that.
Fact - Using the same tag line "Playable art" as I have for years.

Has nothing to do with what other drums he is selling or what his "decorated wrestler title" is. I could give a shit! So why bring it up?

Nope ... felt none of those emotions ... just a cringe when watching your video and seeing the price tag
Nope ... it doesn't sound great and if you really think it does you have no future in the handpan business

Don't see what the relevance of it being 'american made' is to an international community

Make something that sounds decent and you will earn huge respect, and in the interim call it a prototype, but until then mr smith, it is you that looks insecure to me

No but you posted the mail and you responsed him on the forum with your 10 points even if the guy might even not have an account. You can show this mail without problem but it looks like you continuing your debate on the topic.

It is not about hidding something. It is possible to have an argument without making it public AND it is possible to have an opinion without being rude or displaced. Being more objective help.

I think it was what he was reffering by "mature".

Anyway, i'm not the admin here and I don't think it's the point of the OP.

P.S.: I'm not a fluent english speaker. Just in case you will eventually make up a 10 points-arguments about my post.
