Hi there,

Ive just seen this website: http://stg.webpin.com/1585104_HOME.html - a new pan maker :D

What do you think of those pans?

Have someone on the forum already tried them?

Best,

i think they were discussed on another topic before,
apparently, for architecture and name,
a trial of Saggitarius handpan aka HandpanUS aka etcetc
to hide the doubts behind his name
and make some business throught uninformed people out there...

New name, old maker, always spamming, changing names once or twice a year as well locations and countries (USA, Colombia, Brasil, Italy...), always putting up shady businesses... I guess they had more names than they ever produced instruments. They also built up a reselling website proposing to people to enter builders' mailing lists for them, used linotunes in videos in a misleading way for customers (choosing the setting that would pick the closest note to the sound instead of the exact one) and fake or misleading pictures, threatened people and finally got kicked out with their aliases and straw men.

Sagittarius handpan http://www.handpan.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=7825
Sagittarius update http://www.handpan.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=8440
Question about STG Escutura http://www.handpan.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=9357

The Sagittarius list was supposedly closed until 2014 -- I imagine they built a new plant to increase production. I don't understand what these guys want. They're pathologically, compulsively lying, changing identities, etc. instead of trying to build anything... Still they produce instruments, so what's the point ?

and the pan they built is not really bad,
plus it has a very personal aesthetics (what at the same time makes it really easy to follow its shame trace...)
i think they could have made a very desirable/collectable esculpture,
i dont really understand why they choose the tricky way,
when handpans sell by themselves at big prices...

(a SGT for minimum 3000 $? hahaha
maybe all the sgt-hpUS story is a joke to moke the whole handpan world :giggle: )

Atonal those pans are extremely bad. The one I played out here was in shambles, poor guy who owned the pan was playing it normally and it got knocked out of tune. There is a reason why he keeps changing names, he's avoiding constant tuning requests , and avoiding complaints. The evasiveness is alarming.

These are Sagittarius pans. I own one. I love playing it.. some maintenance is required (ie. Oiling & Polishing) but I really don't understand why they have such a bad rep on this forum.. My experience acquiring and playing one has been very positive. I've never played a Panart, Pantheon, Bells or any other pan, so I have nothing to compare it to, but I think I would still play it even if I owned an Equinox 9 by Pantheon.

This bad reputation has been patiently acquired by these makers over the years... A little reading will give you all the information you need (provided you are not one of their numerous straw men--in which case you already know).
BTW, thanks for confirming that they are the same builders. Any idea of what happened to the rest of their customers for 2013, as all the Sagittarius handpans for 2013 were supposedly already spoken for according to their website ? :D
