Question about STG Escutura

I think someone here can help me with this question as I am new here yet,

When I first discovered this wonderful instrument, before I spent hours and hours and hours here sifting through posts, I attempted to put myself on every handpan list I could find and to be quite honest I don't remember how many or who that all was. Now mind you I did this before I discovered the Pantam and builder, that if I could own only one, I would be satisfied with till the end of my days. I'm quite sure I'm not alone in this process but on to the real question...

I just received an email from STG Escultura that was in spanish but noticed the word hardpan so I used google translation and it stated...

Wow - thanks for the Head's Up on this !!

My best guess is this is a rebranding of Sagittarius Handpans made by Adrian Gomez.

Their old website has been stripped bare http://www.sagittariushandpan.com/

...Most likey because of the reputation they got here on this forum.

Your major warning sign is transparency. No word about the maker. No biography. No info on the videos - NONE. They use images from Sagittarius. They use images from the recent Hardcase Technologies event - with Daniel Waples, Liron Man, and Adi Avir ( I am guessing totally without their consent).

It is so simple to just say who you are and what you do :x

This is a rebranding - nothing more or less.

STG Escutura = Sagittarius = Hangdrum.US

It's a Us handpan/Hernan/sagitarius pan with a new name. I would send this to buyer beware. I played one recently and it was wonky.

Escultura is the portuguese word for sculpture. Maybe from a brasilian company... Theres one that has a FB page, i think it's a resseller of those that Jeremy refered.

Hahaha totally rebranding. They even transferred the vid of guitargonaut doing the side by side of his saggi and halo onto their new YouTube channel. These guys just don't stop.

Hmm.... maybe a little intentional dyslexic marketing strategy going on here?

Use Extreme Caution!!!!

Buy only if you have a high threshold for risk. One, maybe two members have posted favorable reviews of these instruments. Many more members, myself included, have not purchased because of concerns of low quality, assurance of actual delivery, and marketing/sales practices.

I will admit that if I didn't have a quality handpan I would be very tempted to try them. Having said that, I can't say that I have any other original thoughts on the matter.

Not nitrided, coated, and fall out of tune very fast. A guy I know out here in Austin bought one and he was playing it normally and knocked the ding out of tune. I feel bad for him because most handpan tuners wont touch it.

This topic should be moved to the Buyer Beware section, IMO. Especially after JeremyD's last post.
