Guidelines of the Buyer Beware section

Postby greenoak » Thu May 02, 2013 5:13 pm

Hello,

This area is currently an experiment based on numerous suggestions from our members.

It is meant to be a collection of known or suspected scams, fake sales, and other dubious offers for easy reference. The Admins are not going to automatically read though all of the topics in Swap and Sale and move them. We will need your help over time.

Here are some thoughts on how to approach this area.

1) Don't automatically post something as a scam unless it has been verified by multiple members. Instead put your post in Swap and Sale like normal.

2) If you do think a topic should be moved into this section, simply "Report" the topic using the report button or write a PM to the admins.

Are there any other thoughts or suggestions on the use of this area?

Thanks,

greenoak :geek:

One of my concerns was not to give extra works to the admins..i think this way of doing things should work.

Maybe a title like "Scam Archive" or "Scam Library", so there is no confusion with the Swap and sale section, which would be the "active" part ?

We chose the name of the new section carefully and I personally can't see a need for a scam sales archive can you?

No doubt you chose carefully. That's just how I had understood it would work.
An archive is useful because scammers repeatedly use the same pictures, the same texts, the same patterns on different profiles. You can often confirm a scam by checking older threads and links.

Yes it is, I just said the name didn't make it clear it was an archive so it was not super clear for people who did not read the guidelines (as people tend to do) and they might post new scam threads in one section or another...
No big deal though !

Very good idea guys, I think it will help a lot of people and hopefully will not be too much extra work for you either
