Wow... We really drifted off topic, didn't we?

Anyone else have anything to add on the topic of handpan tracking devices, maybe?

This company has a small tracking device with a 30 day battery life-

Small Asset Tracking (pdf):

I wonder how much it costs. :hmm:

ETA- It's around 500 pounds- So it might be worthwhile for shipping handpans if the recipient ships it back to be reused. (200 pounds without the service agreement)

Indeed, and Snowboo has consistently shown far more maturity here than you Spike. :sulk:
Stop the name calling in whatever shape you disguise it. Now. :fist:

well, i always feel my handpan more like a pet with its own personality, than an object,
so that wouldnt be totally unappropiate... :giggle:

Any ideas anyone?

I got a tracker for an adult, very "selfstanding"-dog.
I got it for € 60,- wich is cheap - the whole thing feels a bit "cheap"-plastic too, but works!

http://www.amazon.de/simvalley-MOBILE-GPS-GSM-Tracker-SMS-Ortung-Geofencing/dp/B005ZQEJ9W/ref=sr_1_1/276-4818124-0180724?ie=UTF8&qid=1375697852&sr=8-1&keywords=simvalley+gps+tracker

The battery has a standby-time of a week or so - no problem - but there might be a problem crossing national borders (it works with a sim-card for phones).

We should get a fund going to make these devices to send to pan makers (as well as players). One could be placed inside each pan bag, and tracked online. While another one could be permanently placed inside of the handpans. This could allow players to know if their pan is in their bag, and even allow for tracking during shipping. I think if we may be welded the trackers onto the bottom half of pans thief's would a) have a hard time knowing there was one in the first place, and b) make it harder to remove.

And then we could set up an app, showing all handpans around along with "ready for jam" status :)
