LEFTY has been stolen

Beware of the danger of sending handpans by USPS !!!!!
MY good friend Paul (owner of LEFTY ) ... tragically it seems packaged His pan and sent it off to Mark for a re-tune ....Package was sent from Blaine Washington to the shop in Asheville N. Carolina ....It never arrived !!!
Somewhere along the line most likely an observant worker recognized either the destination , or telltale shape of the package .
With the growing awareness of handpans in our world .... Danger is now increased .
Paul had insurance on the parcel , but the limit was 500.00 ... so he lost his prized pan , and is out 1500.00.
Tuners beware and please be on the lookout for this unique instrument !!!

LEFTY is a beautiful instrument made by Saraz ... tuning is LA Sarena with INPEX ... and it's defining feature being that it is in REVERSE tuning .
This instrument was out of tune with a pronounced flat sounding ding .
Tuners please !!! if You get your hands on this unique instrument notify Me .
:friends: :x :x

This unfortunate situation began in late August ... The person who has the pan is definitely in the USA .... so please TUNERS ... keep an eye out for this REVERSE configured SARAZ in La Serena tuning ..... :x

Damn. That sucks. This is why I'm so paranoid to ship pans. I always pay for lots of insurance and while it increases the cost, it definitely makes me feel a little more comfortable when selling...

But sending a prized pan off for a retune and never seeing it again... even having the insured value back wouldn't console me.

Isn't someone offering some kind of gps tracker thing now? That might be a good second option.... especially if it is constantly pinging so you know where it goes and can follow its path.

I wouldn't blame the postal workers. I'd blame thieves who may have seen the large package left on the doorstep or wherever. There have been videos made of the elaborate thieving of packages, sometimes by thieves disguised as delivery drivers or other types of workers. My neighbors and I had some mail stolen recently so we all went and bought locking mailboxes so it wouldn't happen again, at least with small packages left in the mailbox. The post office offers a delivery instructions service which I've not used, but it might be worth looking into.

Update .... Lefty was indeed tracked .
The final tracked location was Atlanta Georgia .
The owner (Paul ) has had to submit a claim of loss , and has now received His 500.00 ... payout ... this releases UPS from further claims , and if the package surfaces , it will probably be opened and presented at some kind of unclaimed items sale.
All in all a real sad situation for sure .
This sure scares the crap out of Me !
I will be taking My pans along to gatherings for re tuning from now on . :(
